What kind of camera should I buy?

Cameras are a tool to capture light.  That is all that they do.  Whether the camera is digital or film (which is getting more and more difficult to find these days) the basics are the same.  Aim it, pull the release of the shutter, and the image is recorded on the media for posterity. The Super Bowl is tomorrow

The last few years, my son and I have watched the Super Bowl together. It’s not really a big deal since we don’t follow football until maybe the playoffs.  This year he is involved with a group at church.  He actually wants to go to their meetings every Sunday.  He said tonight that the youth group has a Super Bowl party. Scary days in our country

I heard about 15 minutes of the State of The Union speech last night.  It was indeed a statement to my constitution that I didn’t yell out in a loud voice how much I have disagreed with the statements that this confused man was making. [Read more →]

An open letter to folks who require 60 days notice

Dear health Club owners and Real Estate Owners:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you.

Not to thank you for a level of service that you have provided to me, because you provide a no frills no service business model. Not to thank you for restoring the concept of a company doing somthing right just because it would be the right thing to do, but it is not required by law. [Read more →]

The 60 day notice for a 30 day service Watch out for health club memberships.

Watch your contracts!  Any time you sign up for a monthly service, especially something where you sign an authorisation form of any type.  About a year and a half ago I signed up for a gym membership, yes that is the beginning of comedy of errors.  Now you can read the rest of the story. warranty services.

I sold computers for Dell for about a year.  Then I moved to other areas within Dell and got off of the sales floor.  The one thing that I learned was that the 3 year warranty is a real cash cow from any company.  Those warranties are not a huge expense to the customer and they are generally a 90% profit to the company that sells them.  That is why we got a spiff, or an additional bonus, for selling one. Growing a family

My son turns 16 this week.  He told me what he wants for his birthday.  He wants “freedom”.  He is still mad at me since I made him go to bed last night earlier than 11:30.  Despite the fact that he had to get up this morning at 5:30 so that he could be driven the 30 minutes to get to school and go to band practice before 7. Seeking out emergency medical care

Friday, December 11 my son joined with other members of the band to play a little football.  They do this every Friday night after the marching season is over, so that they can try to kill each other, just for fun. They have played in frigid cold, and in blazing hot, but the games are Friday night, after school, until it is too dark to play, which during November and December generally means around 5:30. Minis and Friends Holiday Hoedown

Yesterday was the annual “Holiday” party for the Minis and Friends organisation.  Well in all actuality it really can’t be an annual event until next year.  This was the first time it was called a “Hoedown” [Read more →]

Wii games run amok!

Today was the annual trek to purchase Christmas gifts.  My wife takes a day off from her job teaching and I take a day off, or as was the case today, I just didn’t type, or answer emails, and we just shop our little hearts out.  Each store we go to winds up taking at least twice as long as we think it will.
