Let’s keep with the brilliance of Congress, and fix hunger like we are fixing our health care system.

Congress has fixed healthcare.  The new legislation is quite amazing in it simplicity, and I don’t know why we have not thought of this before now.  We are now going to be legally obligated to buy health insurance.  If you are an employer, you must provide health insurance to your employees. I really think that they are on to something here.  This could be the right way to do a lot of things.  This could remedy the hunger problem in the US.  From now on, every one is legally obligated to buy food.  If an employer does not provide you with the ability to purchase food, they can be held liable under the law.  That would solve the problem.

This is not a Baldman post, this is a concerned citizen post.  I am angry with our government.  I have never seen a bigger bunch of pretentious idiots in the same space.  Lawyers (44%* or 204 Congress members) are not willing to look at any problem that could be caused by their profession.  (I do believe that we should worry about the ones who list their occupation as public service/politics — 214 members (182 Representatives and 33 Senators))

My belief is that our illustrious leadership has completely lost sense of the real world.  The original problem was that “there was not an even distribution of medical care for all” and “the cost of medical care is too expensive”.  So here is their solution “you have to buy insurance and your employer has to make it available to you”. Which problem does that solve?

Let us address the high cost of medical care.  I take a couple of meds that total $205 per month as a cash price, they are blood pressure medications.  Both of these medications have numerous side effects, and they have both been on the market for quite a while.  An older product is paid for by being amortised over a period of time, which these are both pretty well nothing but profit now. But it may cost a billion bucks to get approved. A lot of money is because of the testing that it has to go through, and I am not saying that is a bad thing.  The rest of it is not so well spent.

Then the price of medical care is expensive because Doctors are expensive.  Well, I took one of the kids to the Doctor about a month ago, I didn’t have the new insurance information, so I just paid the bill.  It was $60 for the office visit and $30 for the flu test.  Let’s compare.  It took the car the Pep Boys in April, it was $60 to look at it to try to diagnose, it was $80 if they hooked it up to the machine, and I didn’t get the work done there.  Then any parts and each additional job was more money.  About a year ago we had a plumber come to the house, it was $50 to get out of the truck.  And then it was an hourly rate of $45 per hour.  I don’t think Doctors are too far out of line. (Specialists may be, but not everybody needs one of those all of the time.)

If you want government health care, imagine the last administration and Congress that you did not like, which for me there has only been one since Eisenhower.  Now, imagine that administration in charge of your health care.  Because you know that once the government gets hold of something, it does not release it easily.
